This two-part assignment comprises two separate agreements for the Contract Administration (CA) and Detailed Design (DD) evaluation related to the construction of the new Grand River Bridge on a new alignment, extending from 0.7 km east of Riverbend Drive to 0.1 km east of the Bridge Street Connection in the City of Kitchener, within the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
Part A encompasses CA for advance clearing activities, including clearing, grubbing, earth excavation, grading, drainage, granular base, hot mix paving, stockpiling excess material, in-water works, geotechnical analysis, and the DD evaluation of the design/ tender package for Part B. Part A follows a Design-Bid-Build (DBB) model, with construction expected to commence on September 30, 2024, and completed by August 1, 2025. The anticipated assignment start date is August 1, 2024, with a completion date of November 31, 2025. Dates are estimates only and are subject to change.
Part B involves the CA of the Grand River Bridge, including clearing, grubbing, earth excavation, grading, drainage, granular base, hot mix paving, structural, foundations, electrical, landscaping, and in-water works to facilitate the extension of Highway 7. Part B follows the Construction Manager General Contractor (CMGC) process for the design, bid and build phases of the project, with construction anticipated to begin on August 1, 2025, and conclude by November 24, 2028. The anticipated assignment start date is July 1, 2025, with a completion date of February 28, 2029. Dates are subject to change or termination.
